Play Day Formats & Rules of Play

  • The Rules of Golf as governed by the USGA & as listed by the SGC are in effect.
  • All players will play from their assigned tees.
  • Record only gross hole scores on your scorecard.
  • Any team late for the tee time is subject to disqualification at the discretion of the TD.
  • Additional formats may be played at the desecration of the Tournament Director

Each member of the team will play and score their own ball through the hole. The team score for each hole will be the better net score of the two balls. 90% of each player's course handicap will be used. Teams may be either a blind draw, randomly selected and paired, or paired by plaer request.

(A game for 4-person teams that puts the obligation on one player per hole to come through for the team.)

Each member of the four man team will play and score his own ball. Two scores per hole are added together for the team score. One of those two scores must be from the player with the yellow ball. For each hole, the team score will be the score of the player with the yellow ball, plus the lowest net score of the other three players on the team.

The first name on the score card will be the starting sequence for the yellow ball rotation. If your team is a threesome, stay with the every four holes is your turn to be the yellow ball sequence. The blind draw will use the open spot on the card. And the blind draw will be randomly selected after the round.

Allowance: USGA (9-4b5) handicap decision for 2 best balls of 4 stroke play 90% course handicap

Yellow, White, Blue Format Instructions.

1. All players play from a rotating set of tees, each staring off on #1 tee from the Yellow tee box. Each player plays their own ball through the hole and records their gross score.
2. Players play from the White tees on hole #2 and from the Blue tees on hole #3.
3. At hole number # 4 players play again from the Yellow tees and repeat this rotation through the 18 holes.
4. Female players will play the same rotation, but will play the Red, Yellow, White rotation.
5. Male players, normally playing the Yellow tees will play the Yellow, White, Blue rotation with other players.
6. Format payouts will be based on low individual net. Gross & Net Skins and CTR's will apply as normal.

Note: This round will not be recorded for handicapping purposes.

Stableford scoring systems are stroke-play formats in which the high total wins, not the low. That's because in Stableford, your final score is not your stroke total, but rather the total points you have earned for your scores on each individual hole.

Points awarded for player's net score will typically use the chart below but can change from time to time.

  • Double Eagle – 8 points
  • Eagle – 4 points
  • Birdie – 2 points
  • Par – 1 point
  • Bogey – 0 points
  • Double Bogey or worse – (-1) point

Quota Points is an individual stroke play competition where your course handicap is subtracted from 36 and that number now becomes your quota. Each player will accumulate points based upon the GROSS score he/she posts for each hole using the chart below. For instance a 12 handicap will have a quota of 24 and a 4 handicap will have a quota of 32. Each player tries to exceed their quota points and the player with the highest accumulated points wins the match.

Points awarded for player's GROSS score will use the chart below

  • Double Eagle – 16 points
  • Eagle – 8 points
  • Birdie – 4 points
  • Par – 2 points
  • Bogey – 1 point
  • Double Bogey – 0 points
  • Triple Bogey – (-1) point
  • Quad Bogey or Worse – (-2) points

Each member of the 4 man team will play and score his own ball. The team score will be the 18 hole sum of the team's best ball(s), using 90% of each player's course handicap. The best ball used for scoring will be 1 team best ball on the first 6 holes, 2 team best balls on the second 6 holes and three team best balls on the last 6 holes.
